A lifelong Abilenean, I married my husband, Brad, in 2014 shortly after graduating from ACU. Upon completing a Masters in Accountancy in 2015, we moved to Fort Worth to begin our careers in accounting. After a few short years working for KPMG, we decided to leave the hustle and bustle of the metroplex and move back home. I began working for the tax department at Condley and Company in 2017 and obtained my Texas CPA license. My husband and I love Abilene and are so grateful to live and work here!

My dad, David Varner, honorably served as an officer with the Abilene Police Department for 32 years. Hours after he passed away from his long, hard battle with cancer in March of 2017, I received a call from Joy Ellinger. She told me about the purpose and mission of the Abilene Police Foundation (APF) and notified me that the foundation had a group of donors who wanted to help pay for the cost of his funeral. Shortly thereafter, we were asked to attend a party at a friend’s home and were surprised to learn that the APF was instrumental in the raising of funds to pay off the remaining mortgage on my parents’ home. I grew up watching the sacrifices my dad and other APD officers made every day to help make Abilene a place where families felt safe and supported. I want to give back to these men and women that put their lives on the line every day for our community.
